Heaviest - The heaviest dog on record is an Old English Mastiff who in 1989 weighed in at 343lbs.
He was owned by Chris Eraclides of London and his kennel name was Aicama Zorba of La Susa.
The Oldest- Dogs were used for hunting by the ancient Egyptians 8000 years ago and possibly by Stone age man before 10,000 BC. The oldest known
British dog was discovered as an intact skeleton in 1928, during excavation of the Windmill Hill site just outside Avebury in Wiltshire.
Three concentric lines of earthworks were found and dated 2,500 BC. This area was inhabited by Neolithic stone age man.
The Windmill Hill dog was remarkably well preserved and closely resembled the Lake dog of Switzerland.
Greatest Age- The longest life span for a dog is recorded as 29 years 5 months for an
Australian cattle dog named Bluey
Tallest- The tallest dog on record at 41 1/2 inches tall was a Great Dane called Shamgret Danzas.
Smallest- The smallest known dog was a Yorkshire Terrier. Weighing in at just 4oz.,
it measured 3 3/4 inches from nose tip to tail and was 2 1/2 inches high at the shoulder.
Fastest- The Greyhound is the 18th fastest land animal in the World with a top speed of almost 40 miles an hour.
