Tessa the Lurcher and Sacha the Husky were inseparable friends. Tessa had mothered Sacha
when she joined the family at only six weeks ol, and the two dogs really love each other. So much so that Sacha risked her life to save her friend.
The two dogs were out for a walk with their master, when Tessa spotted some ducks and set of in hot pursuit. It was bitterly cold, and the canal was frozen over.
The ice bore the weight of the ducks, but not poor Tessa who fell right through, and was way out of her depth. Almost immediately Sacha streaked into action,
raced onto the ice and into the water, where she grabbed Tessa by the
scruff of the neck and dragged her friend through the icy water to the bank where their thankful owner helped them out.
The rescue has amazed dog behavioral experts who said that Siberian Huskies have specific traits for operating in a pack
and maybe there was something in Sachas genetic memory which told her to respond when she saw her friend in trouble.
